With this project we won the prize of the Provincial Administration of Rome called "Digital Creativity 2011". The digital reconstruction of the two huge ships, belonged to the Emperor Caligula, was made as described in the book "Le navi di Nemi (The Nemi's Ships)" by Guido Ucelli, the engineer who was in charge of recovering the wreckages and that studied in depth the two ships. We reconstructed the ships according to the construction techniques of the ancient Romans. The two ships had different functions. On the first one there was the imperial palace and on the second one, slightly larger, there was a temple where probably religious rites in honor of Diana were practiced. The reconstruction of the palace and the temple was done basing on the various clues left by wrecks when they were recovered in the '30s. The ships contained advanced technology for their time. Most of this technology went lost and was reinvented centuries later. In 2014 the digital animations we created were used for the documentary series "ANCIENT IMPOSSIBLE" produced by WILD DREAM FILMS and broadcast exclusively on the thematic American channel H2
